ANZSB members secure $4 million grant for research centre in joint biomechanics
Great news for biomechanics in Australia – yesterday, the Australian government announced that a $4 million grant has been awarded to a research collaboration featuring current ANZSB President Prof. Peter Pivonka (pictured, left) and current Past-President Prof. Rob Herbert (pictured, right).
The government funding will be used to establish a new research centre focussed on improving the treatment of persons suffering from osteoarthritis.
The research hub, where fundamental joint biomechanics will be translated to personalised surgical treatment, will be based at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane.
The collaboration features a range of institution and industry partners including QUT, The University of Queensland and The University of New South Wales.
Congratulations to Peter, Rob and all partners in the collaboration on securing this grant and boosting biomechanics research in Australia and New Zealand.
