EXCELLENCE IN BIOMECHANICS

ANZSB Awards

The Australian and New Zealand Society of Biomechanics (ANZSB) supports excellence through two key awards: Travel Award for students and early to mid-career researchers, and the Publication of the Year (POTY) Award.

Every calendar year, ANZSB announces awards to support its members in attending and presenting at conferences across Australia, New Zealand, and overseas.
Typically, awards are offered for major biomechanics conferences, including:

  • Australasian Biomechanics Conference (ABC)
  • International Society of Biomechanics Congress
  • World Congress of Biomechanics

Additional conferences may be considered depending on the calendar year’s biomechanics events.

Award Categories
ANZSB offers two travel awards per announcement:

1. Student Award
For ANZSB members currently enrolled in a biomechanics-related research higher degree.

2. Early-Mid Career Researcher (EMCR) Award
For ANZSB members within 10 years post-PhD, including approved career disruption extensions.

Award Guidelines
Student Award Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in a biomechanics-related research higher degree.
  • A research supervisor (primary or associate) must also be an ANZSB member.

EMCR Award Eligibility:

  • Must be ≤10 years post-PhD (inclusive of approved career disruption extensions).

Selection Criteria:

  • Judged by a panel of ANZSB Executive Members.
